Meeting Reflection Paper

Meeting Reflection Paper

The meeting was held in Room J12 on Tuesday 19th March 2013 at 1300. Saeed, as chairman, opened the meeting, which was to discuss the academic and social problems faced by ADMC students, particularly those based at some distance from the college here in Abu Dhabi.  I said that these students faced several problems, such as frequent traffic accidents on busy roads, poor weather, especially for morning students, and parking problems here on campus. Eissa suggested a system of car stickers to ease parking problems but I thought the college could provide buses for students to reduce the rush. Saeed mentioned that car-sharing was a possible solution and I agreed with him. The next item on the agenda was the issue of break times. All agreed that break timings were insufficient. Eissa suggested different break times for different blocks to ease pressure on the canteen. There was confusion as to why the canteen near F block was not open more often. The final item on the agenda was the cost and quality of college laptops and the frequent delays in delivery.

Everyone had his chance to give his opinion at the meeting. Saeed was an effective chairman throughout the meeting and all participants interacted with the meeting goals.

In conclusion, the meeting was successful, and I think that the college will take our recommendations seriously, because they care about their students, and they want the best for the future of our college.

Meeting Agenda

Agenda

Saeed Abdulla Al Qubaisi is the chairman and Mohamed Ahmed Balfaqeeh is the minutes taker with Saif Mohamed Al Mansori and Eissa Sultan Alblooshi who are the participants. And we are going to meet in Abu Dhabi Men’s College in the library on Tuesday 19-03-2013 at 12:30 pm to 01:00pm. We are going to discuss about the college life:-

1. Some students in the college come from outside of Abu Dhabi and we will talk about more problems and what could the college provide to support students socially.

2. Parking problems are caused because some people don’t park right and there are a lot of students in the college come by their own car and the parking is crowded with so many cars so it is difficult to find a parking space.

3. The break timing between classes doesn’t fit the students and they don’t feel comfortable.

4. Sometimes the canteen is crowded that some students don’t find a place to sit and sometimes students go outside the college to get something to eat.

The group needs a laptop, internet, pen and paper to discuss the problems of the college life.

Minutes:-

At the beginning of the meeting the group talked about the college life and what problems the students face.

There are some students who come from outside of Abu Dhabi and the college must provide something socially for these students and the college can afford any help for them; maybe some students come from other Emirates and there are some students who are far away from Abu Dhabi and sometimes the weather get bad and there is a traffic rush.

About the parking 60% of the students don’t  park right and this is a problem for other students, the college must provide buses for students so the parking won’t be crowded; there are two solutions that the college will discuss; they get Mawaqif for parking or if students who are friends come in 1 car it will be better.

The break time doesn’t suit the students; they must eat but the canteen is so crowded; a few months ago there was a canteen opened between the J block and F block; this canteen reduced the percentage of rush in the main canteen and students will feel comfortable because at this time when you order something the order will take between 10 to 20 minutes and like this the students will be late for their classes.

The college must provide for students laptops because the laptop in the college is too expensive for some students and the students who are sponsored by a company get a laptop for free and it is not fair for some students.
Recommendations:-
·         The college could give the student who comes from out of Abu Dhabi extra free time on weekdays so they can get to the college early and they can reach safely.
·         Build multi-storey parking and expand parking in the unused places.
·         The college could provide buses for students to reduce the number of cars.
·         Briefing the students on the right way to park and the college should give the student who parks badly a fine to pay.
·          The break time between the blocks should be different from each other so that the students can have their own time to enjoy their breakfast.
·         Re-open the other canteen which is at the CERT area to reduce the rush of students at the main canteen.
·         Reduce the cost of laptops or offer a new laptop for free to the new students.

Khalifa Mohamed Al Khoori (H00237080)

Eisa Sultan Al Baloushi (H00233509)

Place of Interview:      HCT- ADMC- J12 classroom

Through the interview he looked so relaxed & confident, Rashed Humaid the 18 years old student who just graduated from HCT, business department. Rashed applied for the job of human resources officer.

Mr. Hedley started the interview by asking Rashed to introduce himself with a few sentences, then Khalifa asked him a few questions; he started with his greatest strength, which Rashed found pretty easy to answer saying " My greatest strength is walking along with a well-known person in the company or a friend that I'm able to communicate with so I can do the job".

Khalifa proceeded with the second question by asking him about his outside interests, which were riding horses and fishing with a spear gun.  Another question was "Tell me something negative you heard about our company?" but it seems like Rashed did not hear anything like that. Then Khalifa asked Rashed Where could he use some improvement. He replied by saying "I'm not quite sure but I'm going to get some experience from the job and hopefully go to a higher rank "."Stress" was Rashed's answer when Mr. Hedley asked him about his greatest challenge working as a human resources officer.

After that Eisa took over the interview by asking Rashed where he heard about the company which he answered that he saw the advertisement in the local newspaper. Then, Eisa asked if Rashed had any experience or if he had worked before for any other company, but he answered him by saying "No, I don't have any and I did not work for any company before". Another question from Mr. Hedley was "what qualities have you got that makes you a good human resources officer?" He said "I have graduated from the college with high GPA".

Finally, Mr. Hedley asked Rashed if he had any questions for them. But he told Mr. Hedley that he didn't have any.
I think Rashed was quite prepared for this interview and if it was a real interview he would have gotten the job for his high GPA and for his passion to achieve the goals of the company.
